Let's just say for argument sake that Lekota did send the troops to Khutsong as it is alleged, it would not have been at that time his personal decision but a decision of cabinet. And furthermore it was still the ANC that was in power then so what difference does it make. If it was wrong then it would still be wrong now. I find the parliamentary debates very shallow and childish to say the least. But in this case I do support the President of Cope to go all the way to clear his name and expose the lies of these members of the Anc who suffer from amnesia..

What I find ironic about this absurd wrangle, is that the two women were permitted to slander him quite seriously in parliament, with the speaker not even trying to curb them, but as soon as Lekota spoke in his defence, the speaker ruiled that he could not "use parliament" for personal debate. If the women's attack was not personal, I don't know what is. Utter inconsistency on the part of the speaker, who is supposed to be non-partisan.

But that is the point he is making by asking them to substantiate their claims, otherwise they are mere accusations. If Lekota accused JZ as you suppose and the President kept quite; that does not mean when Lekota is accused; he can not defend himself (it's his constitutional right); after all even the perpetrators of a crime have a right to an attorney!!!
The point here is that Marikana happened and the ANC in parliament will do anything to wish that away including accusing members of opposition parties; that is the issue that this ministers or MP's should be addressing and not making unwarranted accusation.

How many innocent civilians did the army massacre under his watch?

It was embarrassing to here these two women lie like they did, all this because they did not want to accept that it is wrong for a government to ki.ll its citizens as if they are flies. A more mature and remorseful approach would have been appreciated but for them to react like they did is just wrong.
