A man who refused to get water to clean pots at a farm near Camperdown was beaten to death with a log, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Monday.

Captain Thulani Zwane said police had arrested a man in connection with the incident at a farm in Umlaas road. He was expected to face a charge of murder.

“It is believed that the victim and the suspect were sitting outside their rooms with a group of people around a fire when the suspect asked the victim to get him water to wash his pots.

“It is further alleged that the victim refused and the suspect then picked up a log from the fire and assaulted the victim twice on his stomach.” 

The victim was declared dead at the scene.  

A post mortem would be carried out to determine the cause of death.
