Amon Kganyago, told him that it was at the "discretion" of an officer to either warn or fine traffic offenders.
============================================================================

now to you Mr kganyago the word "discretion" means one thing but to the traffic officer on the street it means tshotsho!!!

Kganyago said Matampi could file a complaint with them about the conduct of the officers but he would still have to pay the R2115 for the release of his vehicle.

"After 48 hours we will start charging him R85 a day for storage for up to three months
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bully boys. What is the use of filing a coplaint and still have to pay for release of vehicle.

Also the traffic Dept. charges R85/day for storage. We never ask for the Dept. to store our cars. We should be charging the Dept. for inconvenience.

In JHB City Centre when u parked on the street, you pay a ridiculous R8 an hour to some fat cats, who dont even look after your car. If you park at a wrong space where you are not suppose to park, th metro police come and tow your car and you pay R2000 to get it back. So if you drive in JHB you live to pay.

fact is. if one is going to Jozi after 8 am, you will never find parking anywhere. when you drive into Eloff street, JMPD slap you with a fine. trying to reason with a metro cop is a waste of time. ACE contractors that is in charge of parking space in the CBD also charge an exorbitant amount of R4.25 for 30 minutes. It is much cheaper to park one's car inside the Carlton Centre if you are going to be longer wherever you are going.

First of all Goodman Matampi was wrong.

A civil traffic officer would have given him a fine only, but somehow this turned ugly, so I suspect something happened, maybe Goodman became aggressive and they just wanted to prove to him that he is nothing.

These kinds of things happen.
