You can bet the drunken louts were ANCYL scum. History will judge the ANC harshly for its failure to bring the ANCYL to heel. Its easy - simply disband the ANCYL until it returns to a semblance of normality and discipline. The ANC cannot distance itself from the damage that its youth is doing.

Our brothers and sisters who are keen to be educated are not doing this, can the minister please deploy these corrupt police officials, to calm the situation.

Closing the campuses is going to have a negative effect on the year end results guys, but I understand, Blade doesnt have matric too and he is just ignoring the incident.

Really guys what the hell!! Its now become sa culture to destroy anything during a protest, but dont they realise that they are ruining their own future and education by doing this. Are they not students? Aren't they not supposed to be educated.

South Africa should have no place for such behavior but it would seem to be normal for a great number of our population.

Maybe we should create an institution for people who wish to live with violence and crime and thuggery and put a big fence round it, and let the rest of us live in peace.

@ Letanta - if the NFSAS is being abused or incorrectly allocated, it will be possible to take them to court. There are many organisations that would take up a public law issue such as that. In a civilsed country that is how one resolves thiongs that are wrong. Your methods just make everything more difficult - the money that must now be used to repair the damge coul dhav ebeen spent to the benefit of students. What is so difficult to understand about this principle ?

I'm not surprised, strike was an imminent event because of this poor management. Although i dont know the real reasons for the cause, i bet it got to do with management. They can't balance the inequality between the students in town and those in kasi campuses. They dont take Kasi campuses serious, that's why some of us we opt for WITS, UP, and other descent institution.

It was chaos last night at TUT Soshanguve. My younger sister called me around 10pm so I can come collect her stuff because students were violent. It looked like a movie when I got there. Was even feeling intimidated that they will break my car because some of them were drunk. I had my gun ready in my car just in-case...

I'm very disappointed of our youth's behavior. Sickening...

That's what happend in my 1st year da. Management ba rata jojo (Bribes), lucky me i changed in my 2nd year to UP were i never saw even a single strike till i completed my Honours degree.

We cant just blame students only, TUT management have never been stable. They were not afraid to take decisions in main campus (Pretoria) without informing SRS of other campuses and that causes confusion to students. Minister Blade must intervene but i doubt if he'l curb this strike because he is still obsessed with Mangaung wt wt.

@TMZ, I must agree with you, I never attended at TUT unfortunately or should I say fortunately my younger brother is currently doing his B-tech in the Garankuwa campus, He told me they now have introduced a two quarter registration for a course that runs the whole year, meaning u have to register in January and in July again.

I can not remember seeing a less than 65% in any of my younger brothers results but to date he has not heared anything from NFSAS or the so called NRF. But his friend who failed his first semester courses has been granted an NRF bursary. I just got a call now that I should go collect my younger brother from the ODI campus.

Coconuts like you always has this long Sentences of How to... What if..... Perhaps...., TUT is facing reality recently, NFSAS is out of order even their Office Fax machine does'nt work. What Organisation? This Students do not need Organisation, they NFSAS approval thats all.....

It is not the institution, student bodies (SRC, COSAS, et al) the fukc up everything. Non deserving students are given funding because they are either friends, relatives, girlfriends, boyfriends of the "comrades". Deserving students' applications are always turned down.............

Like the saying goes Money (Connections) talk, bullsh!t walks...............

They requested buses last week inviting the Garakuwa campus (which we know that campus is so quite takes instruction from sosha) to go to main campus n disrupt classes

TUT students are not the only ones who are complaining about the NSFAS allocations, it is just that others are quiet about it. what can we say. people are corrupt and the government is not doing crab about it. and then at the end students will be expected to repay amounts some of which they did not even use.

TUT Shoshanguve…..is for me the worst place ever, the place looks filthy from outside, the location is not suitable for an institution of higher learning, sies maan, the management must get their act together, this is unacceptable, our younger brothers cannot keep missing lectures coz of this high level incompetence. Hai shame that is one institution I will never advice any1 to take their kids to. That place is a joke maan.

i dont totally agree with what the tut students are doing but i can understand their frustation, i mean i am from prretoria and i had to go to cput in cape town to go study bcoz of the fear of not getting nasfas or even space, god knows how many times i have applied to tut, and itz either they never recieved my application or some ridiculous story, tut managent must stop playing with students future ..i will really love to come back and study close by home..but am reconsidering, the situation just scares the hell out of me..why are we oppessing each other like this. it is so true tht money is the route to all evil...tut managent get ur act together for the sake of the students!!1
