Man stoned to death

Aug 17, 2012 | Sapa | 32 comments

A man has been stoned to death for allegedly raping a mentally ill teenager in Swaneville, Kagiso on the West Rand, Gauteng police said.

"Police received a complaint about mob justice in Swaneville and responded swiftly. On arrival at the scene, they found a man lying on the ground and bleeding," Warrant Officer Solomon Sibiya said.

He had been severely assaulted and stoned, and died on the scene on Wednesday.

The mother of a 16-year-old mentally disabled teenager accused the man of raping her daughter.

"She confronted him, but when the deceased denied the accusations, the mother allegedly screamed and mobilised members of the community."

Sibiya said the man was then chased and attacked.

Police were investigating and hoped to make arrests soon, he said.

Strange how they are always eager to make an 'arrest' when the community gets desperate enough to ki11 but never very interested in even making out a charge sheet when a r@pe occurs.

Clearly communities have had enough. Plus to add injury to insult our police force and justice system sucks big time.

Why didn't she take her daughter for check ups? She could have been raped by someone else. What made her to suspect this man?

I think this woman had a score to settle with this man nje.

What if they killed the wrong guy? People must allow police do their job. I know are juctice systems are a bit slow, but the mob juctice is not a way to go. We need to be patient...

Zwelinzima Vavi talked about the ticking time bomb. The recent incidents (Bobby Motaung,Marikana Mine incident, Violent Students demonstrations, Killings in Msinga and other KZN areas) are a sign.

@DJ Winner

I may agree with you on this one, did the mother of this mentally ill daughter dependent on her for information??? He may be the rapist, but I am not fully convinced.

This is disturbing, how can you just believe anything said from a mentaly disturbed person, the women should have gone to the Police and doctors to check the facts, what if the Girl was never raped? is she going to say sorry to the dead man? shame, we dont think at times.
