The 14-year-old was released into his parents' custody.
He will be back in court on August 22, said Sergeant Philani Nkwalase.
The girl was on her way to a shop on Tuesday evening when the boy approached her. He twisted her left arm, pushed her to the ground and raped her.
“This is a village. There are no lights in the area and there was no one in the streets when this happened.”
Nkwalase said the girl reported the matter to her parents, who called the police.
