10-year-old raped
An observant Free State woman has helped a 10-year-old girl report her rape and identify the man who raped her, police said.
Sergeant Martin Xuma said a woman saw the girl walking with difficulty to school on Monday. The woman approached the girl, but she would not talk.
Xuma said the woman took the girl to a clinic where it was established that she had been sexually abused.
The police were called and it was found that the girl was an orphan who stayed with family in Manyatseng, in Ladybrand. She managed to tell her story only when her teacher arrived.
She said she was raped on Saturday night, while she was sleeping. She had been sharing a bed with two boys and a 20 year-old cousin. Her cousin raped her girl while the younger boys were asleep.
Police opened a rape case and arrested the 20-year-old man, who appeared in the Ladybrand Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
The case was postponed to August 23 for a formal bail application.

I really feel her pain so heart-breaking you'd think that a 20yr old is old enough to know the pain of losing those close to you and protect her since they are related but he raped her added to her suffering and pain am just too sad honestlyI was listening to Metro Fm last nite about a 5yr old boy that was sodomised by his neighbour, I was in tears and so disgusted when I heard that the perpetrator was released on bail and this is after the court was left in tears by his testimony and still the bustard was granted bail I mean why now? He is scared and fragile when asked if he could recognize the guy, he said yes and that he will run away I mean is this how our kids should grow with sooo much fear haai so sickening Justice system is failing us
