@DJWinner you are not very sharp are you? the ones who will be affected most are the low income earners should the gov succeed in implement this, also in addition to be stupid all the time don't be racist as well cause its really a bad mix, ask ET if you don't believe me.

@Tpaz think about this, if it comes into effect, many private companies will have to retrench in order to cover and save costs, the ones that will be affected are in the transport/courier services such as DHL, XPS are you getting the pic already:-) so before you banish them as 'publicity stance' please think,

AriForm is doing the right thing, and in theory the opposition to these toll roads should win without a doubt, but this is a country that is dysfunctional to the point of no return thanks to a ruling party that is utterly incompetent and completely corrupt. They use tax payers' money for their own personal benefit, so that they need even more money from the tax payers' when it comes to paying for things that we desperately need. This is such an insult to every honest, hard working South African, but I fear there will be no mercy here. The ruling party is not in the least concerned about the consequences of the additional burden to the tax payer. This is not about us, its about them. Cars, women, charter flights, houses, parties ..... that's what they use our money for. Even if another party were to come into power, how will they ever fix this mess??

The lawyers or advocates that are handling this case are going to make a killing... I wonder how much those advocates will be donating towards the legal costs.

@DJWinner, i disagree with you on this one my man. I think they are fighting for the best interest for all SA citizens. Our gov is reaping us off as it is so having to pay more than our current tax contribution, car licensing & toll gates e.t.c it will be a day light robbery. I am going to send that sms.

The govt has to stop this e-toll and close this chapter now, without further wasting the public taxes taking this useless case to court. E-toll is a measure injustice ever intended to the masses of the poor in this country who voted this govt into power. The success of this etoll would benefit the few and exploit the millions of the poors who are already battling to make the ends meet.
The public deserve to be given a chance to vote on this issue , if our constitution is still relevant in directing our democracy.

@somaartakeit , the effects of e- tolling are known by a grade 5 pupil. The point is why fight a battle we citizens can't win.

AfriForum is just getting mileage from public sympathy , even JZ does not want etolls, problem is someone chowed the money and it has to be paid back.

and the govt will use the law. Now I understand Jimmy

can you imagine if civil rights groups just rolled over and died as you suggest cause the gov of the day would have won, today SA would still be under apartheid, please think tpaz cause really there is not too much money lying around to throw at gov's corrupt projects, whilst there is still financial muscle from organised groups to deal with this corrupt regime, we shld consider ourselves lucky, do you know what has happened in other failed states? the rich simply let them get on with it, result most of those are economic reguees in foreign countries incl SA, whilst the rich in their countries carry on with their day to day lives.

@tpaz - your logic escapes me. If someone chowed the money, find that person and make them pay back - don't financialaly oppress the citizens, who are already close to being the most taxed in the world. With this logic, corrupt cronies can just go on doing their thing and the poor tax payer must keep on forking out our hard earned money. If you are old enough to have the vote, you must please think more responsibly about these things.

@cornelius & somaartakeit, I wish it was as simple as you suggest. People in power make sure that they don't lose power and they will change laws to that effect.

Once a govt get to a level where it fights its own citizens through the courts. It is game over. The beast has already turned into a MONSTER. The vote or civil pressure wont work but the gun.

@TPaz this gov wldn't dare use gun power against organised civil groups such as Afriforum cause they will have international communities breathing down their necks and even risking sanctions, that is why I said we are lucky that we have strong opposition to fight against corrupt regime for us, other Africans they like you suggest just cowered to the gun power end result they are in SA and elsewhere in the world as economic refugees.

and if you have been noting down historic events you will know that gun power is almost always used against the masses to keep the subservient just as you suggest that civil groups should not challenge the corruption cause the gov is more powerful, hte gov is powerful cause internationally it is believed to be a legit gov, but once the gov uses guns to enforce its wills they will be shunned just like the gov of Gaddafi and now Asad, so I don't fear the anc regime, as long as everything I am doing is within the constraints of the local and international laws,

@tpaz, but the whole point of having a constitution is to provide citizens with a means to prevent the government from simply making laws that are unconstitutional or oppressive. That is what Afriforum are doing, and it is the duty of citizens to enforce the constitution on the government when necessary.I t is wrong, by the way to say Afriforum is " pushing a white agenda". They are aimed at mostly protecting the constitutional rights of the minority against possible abuse, which is different. There is a need for this, and anyway, there are a myriad of organizations aimed solely at advancing black people.

and to say that AfriForum is fighting issues of the whites is a bit of a fallacy, cause even if that were the case, are the issues they are fighting legitimate or not? are they fighting for white domination or are they fighting for legitimate rights for farmers who happen to be majority whites? And as they are whites and paying tax in SA, are they not within their rights to protest social issues that are affecting them? in the same that I as a woman lobby for women issues, so what's wrong if a civil rights groups which so happened to be white is protesting for social justice for its members? Tpaz you really need to open your eyes beyond skin colour.

They must give us free service of our cars every year. Izinyoka they must still those copper cable now. Iam no longer going to vote for the ANC, this government is only favour those who have money, us poor people wwill not servive in this country. Iam going to vote for the better party that will listen to it's members not to force the member to dance while are not ready to dance.

But some Comrades abacabangi. Do they not know any mathematics or arithmetics kodwa? Suppose E-tolling goes on, the ANC will surely lose GP in the next vote of elections, whereas it is the very same GP which contributes more than 30% into the economy of the country - therefore the tax base of the country which in turn feeds the ANC's corruption and 'eating'. Bazodla ini when they lose GP - that which is feeding them kuyimanje? These e-tolls are a short term gain for ANC whereas losing a province like GP is a long term loss. Someone astute should teach the ANC guys in government lessons on long term cost benefit analysis. If the ANC government can save money by curbing corruption and wastage on luxuries for its leadership they can easily finance the e-toll like they invested billions of rands with the IMF to give repreive to economically depressed European countries.
