New hope for jobless doctors
THE Limpopo department of health has instructed health institutions to employ doctors and other health professionals who have been struggling to find jobs in the province.
Sowetan reported on Monday about the frustrations of more than 200 qualified doctors who could not find jobs because the provincial department had no money.
MEC for health Norman Mabasa said yesterday he had issued instruction for institutions to employ the doctors.
Mabasa said he would source funds for their salaries.
"I know there is no money but we cannot wait until it is there," he said.
Mabasa's change of heart follows several enquiries made by hospitals in North West, looking for contact details of the doctors, offering them jobs immediately.
