TWO more sisters have been arrested in connection with the stoning to death of a man in Limpopo last week.
This brings to four the number of siblings arrested in connection with the alleged stoning to death of their sister's 44-year-old former boyfriend.
The incident allegedly happened at Riba Cross village in Driekop near Burgersfort on July 22.
Peter Kgwedi was allegedly stoned when he visited his former girlfriend, Mokgadi Matjipa, 37, in the village.
Kgwedi was accused offrequently assaulting his girlfriend, resulting in their separation.
Matjipa had allegedly obtained a protection order against Kgwedi.
The protection order prevented Kgwedi from visiting Matjipa, but on the day of the stoning Kgwedi had allegedly defied the order and visited his girlfriend.
It is alleged an argument ensued between the couple, which resulted in Kgwedi's death. He was was allegedly stoned to death by several of Matjipa's siblings.
Paramedics who arrived at the scene found Kgwedi's lifeless body lying among the stones, according to police.
Local police had initially arrested Mokgadi and her sister Anna, and charged them with murder.
Constable Elias Setati said yesterday that further investigations had implicated two other sisters, Daphney, 31, and Kamogelo, 24. They were arrested on Sunday.
Matjipa and her sister Anna appeared for the second time in the Mecklenburg Magistrate's Court on Monday where they, together with their other two siblings, Daphney and Kamogelo, were remanded in custody until their next court appearance on August 2.
Setati said they would oppose bail for all the accused until investigations had been completed.
"We further call on eye-witnesses to come forward and assist us. Any information provided will be treated with confidence," he added. - firstname.lastname@example.org
