Let me tell you something; private sector is very corrupt as well; the only difference is that people there do not receive the same publicity that government is receiving. Having said that I must hasten to state that I am not by any means promoting corruption. There is necessarily nothing wrong with tenders if the necessary checks and balances are performed prior to the tender being issued to confirm that it is issued to a legitimate company and no nepotism was involved and such a company would be able to deliver on its mandate and clearly outline what are the consequences of such a failure. Tender awarding is not a one person decision but protocol adherence. If this is compromised all the stakeholders should be liable of sabotage too. Good morning; Government is suppose to go on a tender for any amount of half a million and more. They are not suppose to go on a tender where such services could be provided for internally. The tendering itself is not the problem; but the application of this process is. i think that tendering could add a lot of value and assist in efficient service delivery if properly implemented. the real problem here is the cadres who give tenders to the comrades or get kick backs from the same. This problem is compounded by staff who (due to their lack of good moral values) collude with these comrades to defraud the system. I wonder why does Sowetan not expose those fat cats of OR Tambo municipality in Mthatha, over the weekend I read one paper talking about the situation in that town, where the municipality did not pay the workers and they did not make means to clean the town and they knew that visitors are coming because it is Mr Mandela's birthday, Mr Alexander reported that they are trying but the municipality led by Mr Mncube is not pulling to such an extent that he returned R560 million back to Pretoria instead of cleaning the town or buying the trucks that collect refuse. To my opinion he returned (Mncube) that money after he has taken a good share for himself, How can that municipality not clean the area knowing that people like Mr Clinton are coming to town, how can they allow those Pakistanians leave their refuse in the streets? The whole town is in anarchy, dogs, cats, people are walking up and down disregarding the traffic lights. That councillors in Mthatha have ulterior motives how can they boycott Madiba's birthday? How can they not prepare the town for the visitors? The corruption in that municipality is more than that of Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal, I wish Mr Nombembe can investigate, and Thuli Madonsela need to investigate those fat bastards. Let me tell you something; private sector is very corrupt as well; the only difference is that people there do not receive the same publicity that government is receiving. Having said that I must hasten to state that I am not by any means promoting corruption. There is necessarily nothing wrong with tenders if the necessary checks and balances are performed prior to the tender being issued to confirm that it is issued to a legitimate company and no nepotism was involved and such a company would be able to deliver on its mandate and clearly outline what are the consequences of such a failure. The problem today is the wrong application of a possibly very good idea.

What I hate about some Senior officials in the ANC is that they don't make noise about these corruption cases because they are part of it. The person who makes noise about corruption is Zwelinzima Vavi, he must fear for his life.
Jail term is the solution to those found guilty. This thing that they will be disciplined ''internally'' and made to repay back this money is utter rubbish. We want to see Red Ants and Asset Forfeiture Unit seizing properties of those found guilty.

I might be misconstrued sacarstic but my concern is that it is not divulged whether tenders' mandate were satisfactorily implemented? Tender awarding is not a one person decision but protocol adherence. If this is compromised all the stakeholders should be liable of sabotage too. The stakeholders of tender processing should press the alarm before its too late, to avoid one dirty finger dirtens the rest on auditor's findings.Report Abuse

Basic services are supposed to be provided by the municipalities, but most of them seem to be helping themselves with public funds. There was an interesting article in some article I read. the writer asked; should everything be tendered? This was in response to the Limpopo textbook crisis. The government is tendering services some of which they could do themselves. It is ludicrous.

Good morning; Government is suppose to go on a tender for any amount of half a million and more. They are not suppose to go on a tender where such services could be provided for internally. The tendering itself is not the problem; but the application of this process is. i think that tendering could add a lot of value and assist in efficient service delivery if properly implemented. the real problem here is the cadres who give tenders to the comrades or get kick backs from the same. This problem is compounded by staff who (due to their lack of good moral values) collude with these comrades to defraud the system. But above all; the main contributing factor is the fact that 9/10 nothing will be done to the perpetrators of these ills!!

I wonder why does Sowetan not expose those fat cats of OR Tambo municipality in Mthatha, over the weekend I read one paper talking about the situation in that town, where the municipality did not pay the workers and they did not make means to clean the town and they knew that visitors are coming because it is Mr Mandela's birthday, Mr Alexander reported that they are trying but the municipality led by Mr Mncube is not pulling to such an extent that he returned R560 million back to Pretoria instead of cleaning the town or buying the trucks that collect refuse. To my opinion he returned (Mncube) that money after he has taken a good share for himself, How can that municipality not clean the area knowing that people like Mr Clinton are coming to town, how can they allow those Pakistanians leave their refuse in the streets? The whole town is in anarchy, dogs, cats, people are walking up and down disregarding the traffic lights. That councillors in Mthatha have ulterior motives how can they boycott Madiba's birthday? How can they not prepare the town for the visitors? The corruption in that municipality is more than that of Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal, I wish Mr Nombembe can investigate, and Thuli Madonsela need to investigate those fat bastards. The ignorant masses are only good for their vote at election time when you can buy them with empty promises. As for the rest of the time, it is important that the ignorant masses remain ignorant and uneducated – that allows the ruling elite to have an advantage over them and do the necessary looting without too many uncomfortable questions being asked. Just look at the recent textbook fiasco as one example. I rest my case.

People do not understand that you can vote a government out that is full of corruption, how big an idiot must one be not to realise these people are stealing from you and the poor. Must they first come into ones house and take your tv in front of you before you realise that they are stealing from you.

I share your sentiments very well Comrade SOLUTIONS, but the question is , Do we have a perfect replacement for the caANCer, we were born in the ANC , our vision is to make it better by getting rid of Comrades like Yenkeni, Mathale, Masemola, famous Angie and Malema, sure enough we will get it right. We cannot vote ANC out of power thereby going from bad to worse, that will be foolish my Chief!
We clearly does not have no relevant quality and brilliance to succeed the ANC, you cannot surely tell me about Lindiwe ''buyme icecream and lolipop'' Mazibuko and Hellen ''apartheid product'' Zille and say they will be our democratic top managers! Some of us are very clever enough to ignore voting for DA even if our beloved brothers keep on shitting on us.

Smart campaigning is likely to win votes rather than arrogance of suggesting majority voters are brainless. Those insults win no votes believe you me, they do the exact opposite of what you desire.
