"...who also do not go to school."
- WHY ???

"...on her maid's salary of R400 a month"
- Unlawful. Even with accommodation thrown in it cannot be more than 10% of the salary. Rural area domestic workers salaries are R7.06 per hour. So either she is only working 56 hours in a whole month or she is being shafted

We cry foul that the poor are getting poorer. How in the world don't you get poorer when you are having more kids than you can afford and those kids dont even go to school? When do you end the cycle of poverty in such a situation?

At our expense?

First of all , this farmer's daughter must tel her father that he is not complying with the legislated minimum wage for domestic workers, which R1300.00 per month. That is minimum.

Secondly, the department of labour and department o Social services must make inroads and visit rural areas and farm place in NW.There is dire poverty and human rights violations in the rural and farm areas of North West.People must also be taught about birth control or family planning.Look at your circumstances before you give birth to five or more children.

she must visit the social worker for grants regarding the two orphans.
i guess the poor peoples hobby is breeding willy nilly after all having said that R400 is way too small to be called a wages even for a domestic worker

@Real-Mongwa Your problem then if you think its ever right for any human to sweat for a whole bloody Month for a mere R400 then you have a huge problem, do you think it will be acceptable if she had 1 child to care for? Do you think it make sense at all to be paid R400? I havent said its right for her to keep making them babies she clearly cant afford to care for her own kids now we know why she is getting paid 400 bloody hundreds rands a Month and now she has to care for another 2 kids she had to adopt cause their mother died

Segomelo has to take care of all the children, including her sister's two children, on her maid's salary of R400 a month.
*********************************************************************************************************************
That is slavery........... I spend this amount on baby formula and someone receives it as remuneration

She has 5 kids, 2 grandkids (additional 2 from the deceased sister), they will never break the cycle of poverty

I agree with many comments here that refer to the poor NOT having babies they can't afford. They need birth control and family planning education, urgently.

WRT her earning only R400.00 per month we need to remember that we are not told if this is full time work or a part time job.(bad reporting)

If full time, it is shockingly low!!!!!! In fact criminally low!
If part time, how many hours does she work?

My part time domestic works 1 morning (half day) a week @ R120.00 and this includes 2 meals for herself plus extras (treats) she takes home for her children which translates into R520.00 pm - averaged out over a year.

We cannot make informed comments without all the true facts.

The rich do not dedicate all their time to fornication', Zuma is an exceptional case, so I do agree with those who say the poor make many kids than they can afford.

in support of zazezi, research has shown that when people have nothing to do they dedicate their time to fornication which why you would find that poor people precreate more that the rich. people who do not work, or those who do work for very little money tend to get frustrated and in their frustration turn to booze and in their intoxicated state turn to sex. women in particular, who earn less than the men they are in a relationship with tend to give in to their partners sexual demand jiust because he buys the mielie meal. So we do need descent jobs to remedy most of our social predicaments

I find it disgusting and insulting to (black) people that some people (bloggers here, imperialists and racists, etc) everytime ther is a crisis involving children, the question or conclusion is: why have so many children?? Are you people for real of artificial?? Causes of poverty is not the number of African children, but greed, capitalism, corruption and 'me me me' attitudes. This planet produces more than we can consume, but when you go to western countries, food is thrown away because it cant be sold. Corruption in Africa (including SA) is exaccebating poverty. If this poor woman was paid a decent wage, I am sure some (vindictive) bloggers would not have heard about her story. Those in Glasshouses sholud never throw stones.
