"Of those, 214 were dismissed, 498 were issued with final written warnings, and the rest with smaller sanctions"

What?Final warnings,so you steal money from government and you are given first, second and then final warning. This is a joke, why not dismiss them on the spot, but the again, the African National Crisis,is a joke.

R3 billion that could have been used to better people's lives.

The day nepotism in managerial position comes to an end is the day we will have purpose driven managers who will understand what supervision and control means. Currently in most cases we have managers who have no direction therefore cannot give proper direction to subordinates. How can you supervise if you know for a fact that you were placed at the level of your incompetence? How can you have confidence to make changes if you are not sure of your operational situation? The dubious new bosses when they talk to their staff for the first time they say, " I am not here to change anything. Everything will carry on as before". It means that if there was corruption, it will carry on as before and if there was inefficiency and lack of direction, nothing will change. This is the cancer in our government today.

Sad state of affairs.... If you take up office to serve the people and then steal from them- you should loose everything you own - this will make u humble again (redistribute all their assets to those they stole from)

All govt depts should be placed under independent financial administrators, a mass audit should take place with the involvement of the Directorate of Public Prosecution. From the president to the office cleaner, everyone should be investigated, assets confiscated, arrests & convictions should follow, and an entirely new (corruption-free) govt administration process put into place
