Ministers roll up sleeves

Jul 19, 2012 | Boitumelo Tshehle North West Correspondent | 1 comments

ARTS and Culture Minister Paul Mashatile and Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi rolled up their sleeves.

They visited and painted schools, donating books, hoisting the South African flag at schools and carrying out other community service activities in Dinokana village near Zeerust, North West.

Mashatile later addressed the people at the Dinokana sports ground where he shared a birthday cake with citizens in recognition of former president Nelson Mandela's 94th birthday.

Together with the Ramotshere Moiloa local municipality, Mashatile handed over two houses to the needy and facilitated the renovation of two other houses in the area. Speaking at the event, Mashatile reiterated the call to make every day a Mandela Day.

"We have done all this because of the inspiration and lessons we draw from the life of Tata Madiba.

"We have also done this because the government that Tata Madiba once led is about making a change in the lives of our people. He said the government was committed to continue with ubuntu, humility, respect and caring for others.
