NELSON Mandela's 94th birthday was warmly celebrated by 35 excited children from the Miss Muffet Daycare Centre in Tembisa.
The Nelson Mandela Children's Fund played host as part of Mandela Day celebrations.
The children were overjoyed as they began an eventful morning by dipping their hands in paint using multiple colours as a symbol of unity and peace in a democratic South Africa.
Centre principal Jabulile Buthelezi said: "Mandela inspired me to open the centre because he symbolises love and unity.
"The centre accommodates 35 children and some of them are orphans, which is why we appeal to the public to help us in any way they can to enable us to build bigger premises. Contact us on ndekabuthelezi @yahoo.com," she said.

Sowetan journalists please don't be lazy, there are so many things happening in the country than this over reporting on one man's birthday, whilst millions still live in abject poverty, what is really to celebrate? just f@koff and start to report on other stuff, like what is the progress on the gov's so called ethics committee cause I don't believe that Memezi is hte ONLY thief in the anc, we want the full house of thieves sorted out.Report Abuse
