It is simple really MommaC. Isreal uses security as an excuse to keep land they know very well does not belong to them. Hamas need an environment of hostilities to justifying their continued existence and are therefore likely to take action that is regressive like launching rockets that achieve nothing in the bigger scale of things.
Take away all that what excuses does Israel have, we had a mini civil war with IFP plunging our country in a state of chaos yet we still made it through and achieved our liberation not even Hani's murder could prevent our destiny. That is what can be achieved when there is focus on the outcome.

A large portion of the problem are surrounding countries. Syria and Jordan are active participants. Their tactic of shipping people into the strip has caused a situation where Gaza resembles a sardine can. You cannot even begin to believe that you can get that many people into such a small space.
The West Bank is a contentious issue. The 'moderates' were in charge of the West Bank and they got on quite well with the Israelis. Then they were used as a springboard for the bombings and the situation changed. Something that is seldom brought up is the vast differences in the philosophies of the various groupings. Not all of the Palestinians are supportive of the Hamas variety of rule and not all of the Israelis are in favour of their right wing
The Israelis are threatened from all sides. They do what they think is necessary to survive. It isn't easy. Having the constant threat of some silly sod blowing themselves up in your marketplace isn't something to be sneezed at.

They were created by the same resolution but was never agreed by Palestine & the Middle East. Ever since the formation of Israel in recent times, it has been under attack. And it has been under attack for geopolitical reasons, and the most obvious, financial reasons. This has nothing to do with land that is pure lifeless sand and rock.

Well usually what should happen in a debate amongst mature adults is when you agree with a statement made you counter this with your own argument and you back it up with supporting evidence where you can. It is called coming up with a stronger argument so you nullify one you think is not correct or misrepresents reality.

This is why Israel has evidently defended itself from growing geopolitical threat to Jewish existence. The Palestinians do not care about the 1948 boarders............they want all the boarders. And since the Jews quietly spent many centuries in many countries across the world trying to building a force powerful enough to reclaim Israel and defend it, they are certainly not going to allow 4 million Palestinians destroy Israel. Society is shunning religion and yet it is the backbone of a successful community, it teaches self respect, self discipline, respect for others, focus and living a purposeful life. Not sure what you mean by “connected to their history” baba Chawane. From suffering under a looney Hitler they went on to oppress Palestinians and stole their land in various stages. Even today Palestinians live under a system no different from apartheid with retributive action that amounts to mass murder of the innocent.Perhaps you don’t know that the state of Israel was created by the same UN resolution that created a separate and independent state of Palestine yet Palestine has never been declared a separate state largely because Israel.
I support a call by our government for all products produced in land falling within 1967 borders to be labelled accordingly so that those of us who are choose to can avoid buying products that keep Palestinian people under subjugation.

It is important to note Jews were not the only nation persecuted by Hitler whilst they bore the brunt of what happened. If you ask me Hitler was motivated more by financial considerations than ideology but that is besides the point. The point is a nation that has suffered so much oppression should know never again to lret that happen and never to be the instigators but the state of Israel is built on oppression and theft of land in contravention of international law which states no country can claim land as reward for conquest.
History does not excuse what is happening today, what would I have said back then is immaterial. Actually many white South Africans did not vote in general because there was no reason to. B.lack people could not vote, and the p.rogressive party was seen as a thre4t the to sovereignty and security of A.frikaners so it only made sense that the few white people who did vote, would vote the NP.

See it is when people introduce pointless debates like this one that the core of the debate gets lots, where they come from is immaterial. What is material is they occupied the land from the time the British started buying land to settle Jews long before the start of WW1. this where did they come from debate is akin to saying blacks have no claim to SA which is rub.bish.
What is material is the UN declared two states side by side; one for Jews the other for Palestines what happened after is theft on grand scale. What is preventing Israel from retreating to 1967 borders. Keep the land stolen in 1948 but not after 67 this includes land annexed in 1973 and thereafter as settlements sprang up in occupied territories.
There is no single argument you can present to justify modern day apartheid.

It is simple really MommaC. Isreal uses security as an excuse to keep land they know very well does not belong to them. Hamas need an environment of hostilities to justifying their continued existence and are therefore likely to take action that is regressive like launching rockets that achieve nothing in the bigger scale of things.
Take away all that what excuses does Israel have, we had a mini civil war with IFP plunging our country in a state of chaos yet we still made it through and achieved our liberation not even Hani's murder could prevent our destiny. That is what can be achieved when there is focus on the outcome.
Do you think we would have achieved that had we focus on speed bumps.

DzelA large portion of the problem are surrounding countries. Syria and Jordan are active participants. Their tactic of shipping people into the strip has caused a situation where Gaza resembles a sardine can. You cannot even begin to believe that you can get that many people into such a small space.
The West Bank is a contentious issue. The 'moderates' were in charge of the West Bank and they got on quite well with the Israelis. Then they were used as a springboard for the bombings and the situation changed. Something that is seldom brought up is the vast differences in the philosophies of the various groupings. Not all of the Palestinians are supportive of the Hamas variety of rule and not all of the Israelis are in favour of their right wing
The Israelis are threatened from all sides. They do what they think is necessary to survive. It isn't easy. Having the constant threat of some silly sod blowing themselves up in your marketplace isn't something to be sneezed at.

There will never be a negotiated settlement largely because there are parties that do not want to see the situation resolved, it benefits them that there is a stalemate and everyone knows this but still pretend this can be negotiated.

Listen dude, I have better things to do answer silly questions. What is the relevance of this question and how does it change the fact that Israel and Palestine were created by the same resolution passed by the UN General Council which by the way is the combined voice of the world.

They were created by the same resolution but was never agreed by Palestine & the Middle East. Ever since the formation of Israel in recent times, it has been under attack. And it has been under attack for geopolitical reasons, and the most obvious, financial reasons. This has nothing to do with land that is pure lifeless sand and rock.
Israel has the right to defend itself. The Jews have had enough. Is is longer than 1948.

Well usually what should happen in a debate amongst mature adults is when you agree with a statement made you counter this with your own argument and you back it up with supporting evidence where you can. It is called coming up with a stronger argument so you nullify one you think is not correct or misrepresents reality.
You are trying to imply I don't know my story by questioning my sources. I can share my sources with you but I know where you are trying to go with this so let us get that out of the way first. No I am not informed by Palestinian websites which I know you will pass off as propaganda and distorted. I draw from a big pool of sources but tend to learn towards sources like the BBC, credible sources....

I have been debating long enough to be able to spot when the intention is to shift the topic and draw one away from points that are uncomfortable to answer. I never stated that I could nor will I pretend I can. I am not a political analyst. I havent even debated you on this. My comments were based on what I have heard countless Jews say in documentaries that they will never be persecuted or pushed around again. And for this I cannot fault them.

I did not say you dont need to comment, you can do what you want, you the one who approached me on this forum, expressing your deep afrocentric post colonial inferiority complex when I said Jews rule the world. You asked me to explain about Israel, so let me explain to you in a nutshell. The Palestinians do not see Israel as a state nor do they want a 2 state solution. This is evident by actually going to Israel, and speaking to people that actually live there. There is no intention for Israel to exist. IE, the Jews must go. This is why Israel has evidently defended itself from growing geopolitical threat to Jewish existence. The Palestinians do not care about the 1948 boarders............they want all the boarders. And since the Jews quietly spent many centuries in many countries across the world trying to building a force powerful enough to reclaim Israel and defend it, they are certainly not going to allow 4 million Palestinians destroy Israel. Palestine and the Middle East must accept Israel's right to exist, or there will never be peace. Israel is not going to surrender.
