A man was seriously injured when an out-of-control earth moving truck struck him while inside his property on Terrence Road near Parkmore Road in Phoenix, north of Durban, this morning.
Paramedics said in a statement it appeared that the tipper truck, carrying a full consignment of sand and stone, had come to deliver at an address on the road.
The vehicles brakes failed and it rolled backward through a perimeter fence and struck the man who had been in his garden.
Nectare911 Paramedics arrived at the scene to find the unsuspecting man in a serious condition, having sustained lower limb trauma. He was rapidly stabilised at the scene and transported by ambulance to a nearby state hospital, the paramedics said.
BE CAREFUL - TOMORROW IS FRIDAY THE 13TH: We don't want to be as unlucky as this man
