Residents pray for 'cursed' road

The road between Nelspruit and KaNyamazane township in Mpumalanga, on which three serious accidents occurred just this past weekend, is fast gaining notoriety.

Members of the communities of KaNyamazane and Thekwane South held a meeting on Monday at the local sports field to pray for an end to accidents and fatalities on this road.

Community leader Louis Dlamini said: "We prayed for divine intervention because the high number of accidents and fatalities on this road shows without any shadow of doubt that it is cursed.

"We need to remove this evil curse with prayers."

Dlamini said the meeting was prompted by three accidents that happened along the same road between Friday and Sunday, as well as many others involving minibus taxis in which a number of people were killed.

A vehicle overturned between Magugu and Karino on Friday night, leaving its driver seriously injured.

Another vehicle overturned near the Magugu traffic lights a few hours later.

This was the second accident at these traffic lights in less than 48 hours.

In the third accident on the same road, a female driver was seriously injured when her car and a panel van collided near the traffic lights on Sunday afternoon.

The two occupants of the panel van escaped with minor injuries while the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital.

One of the most horrible accidents on the same road happened three months ago when the driver of a Toyota Tazz was decapitated and had his right hand ripped off when his vehicle collided with a delivery truck.

Spokesman for the Mpumalanga department of community safety, security and liaison, Joseph Mabuza, was not available for comment.

Sorry your prayer won't help, that road is probably poorly designed, change the road (add speed humps, separate lanes, etc)...

My friend also lost his life on this road year before last. We really need to pray for our South African roads. The devil is recruiting as much people as it can. Let's turn to God. Akahlulwa lutho.

OMW they neglect to teach ppl about safety driving and they blame it on evil curse honestly SA'ns #SMH ppl are too negligent, lacks courtesy and are always trying to multitask while driving there's no curse here just bad driving

Secretary

There are number of facts that need to be taken in to consideration before just going there and make a prayer. Do the local people understand traffic lights or do the lights function properly? If those cases could be checked properly and nothing solid was found, the other issue can be the cleansing of the streets traditionally after the first loss of life. If they cannot cleanse the street even when they can call biggest pastors and Nigerians the spot will remain deadly.

Sorry dude. I don't think god does taxis. Besides, she is too busy with the sorting of the souls you keep sending her

Why not do something practical like getting the useless cops to do their job ?
