Ironically I've yet to hear about death caused/ emanating/ related to virginity testing but certain within the community are calling for its abolition. People talk about the invasion of privacy, what privacy? If people go the gynaecologist, what is the difference? Just send your boys to clinics or hospitals to be circumsised I have done it with all my 5 sons , then after wards they just go to these schools to be taught good behavior torwards manhood , nothing like this could happen any more , hence are my sons they have never killed a fellow human being on grounds of ethenic Report Abuse

I'm also from Bizana and I know what they are talking about. It happens in my Village and surrounding Villages. And there is nothing that Government can do to change this if they don't get to the root of it. My Cousins can't even attend my home rituals because they did a different circum tradition but we all stay in the same Village. The dominant Circum Tradition in the Village is the one I went to and those guys tease others such that it just becomes violent.
One thing you will notice is that these "Boys" who do this are all un-educated. I can promise you now those who killed this other kid have no proper education as a result they have no hope in life. Circum Tradition is their life, they always can't wait for June and December so that they celebrate graduations and rituals.
So being circumcised for them it's all they have and it's all what makes them feel they have power as man. This is the same thing as what Police Man like abusing the power they have as Police and starting abusing citizens. Its also not all of them who do it but some do it.
So my main conclusion is that Government and those other individuals who have made it in life should concentrate in making sure that those kids get proper education and give them hope so that they become better people in life than becoming masters of Circum Traditions. I have started an organization in my village and the surrounding ones to improve education and also making sure that those who do well can continue further.
