Guys R80K for a mine manager is like R500 to you, those guys get paid a lot because they carry a huge legal accontability for their mining operations (MHSA 3.1 and above appointment) so most of them take home anything above R100k a month plus they get around a million every 3years as retention bonus, anual bonuses plus plus plus. Should any of the employees underground or surface die from causes related to negligence by the Mine, both the Mine manager and responsible engineers might face jail time for murder. You will find that even that Ferrari he was driving in was a gift from one of the suppliers (vendors) since this BEE Dudes are forever hungry, they always bride us ka lavish things like holidays away or cars etc nje fela gore o ba fe business (tenders).
Infact most of you guys shouldnt believe what you read on the newspapers that miners or mining workers are poor, most of the general workers working underground are from far like lesotho and other countries so when they get to a town like Rustenburg or Witbank, they are there to work, make money and send it home, not to live luxurios lifestyles, most of them stay in shacks here but built mansions back at home. An entry level permanent general worker underground with grade 8 qualification earns more than most of government employees because they work in risky and unappealing conditions, basically my point is R80k for a mine manager is a small change.
