Motorist punished with R80,000 fine
An Mpumalanga man was fined R80,000 for speeding by the Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court, Gauteng traffic police said.
Spokeswoman Busaphi Nxumalo said Andy McCauley 48, a mine manager from Witbank, was caught driving at an average speed of 212km/h in a 120km/h zone in a brand-new Ferrari 455 on the N14 towards Pretoria on May 27.
“He was sentenced to an amount of R80,000 or two years imprisonment of which half was suspended for two years. The fine was immediately payable.”
Nxumalo said the man paid the fine.
“The magistrate clearly spelled out that should McCauley be arrested again for the same offence, the suspended sentence will immediately come into effect,” she said.

A mine manager hey, I'm sure his workers are getting a decent living wage? Those mine workers that go underground and risk their lives and inhale toxins. I wonder if they are getting a decent salary? I wonder if they live in good homes or live in sqaurter camps? If not then Malema has a point, mines must be nationalized. Nxa! R80 000 could have been better used to sponsor a child's university tuition or built a home for one family.Report Abuse
