But isn't that South African culture, we see someone being robbed, hijacked or beaten up we stand by idly and pretend we didn't see a thing.

I am the type who can't just watch a crime unfolding and will hoot if that is what it takes to disturb a crime in action. I have had my fair share of trouble with taxi drivers including one time demanding that the driver give me the keys to his vehicle so I could drive as he seemed hell bent on killing his passengers. On another occasion I reported a driver to his association and got him fined for disrespecting his passengers.

If only passengers were vocal the taxi industry would be much better than the cr*p service they provide.

To show that the beast passengers approved of the savage driver's actions, even now the police are looking for witnesses, non of them is coming fwd even though they are witnesses to crime, tomorrow that taxi s@vage will be violating their mothers, sisters, daughters, nieces no woman is immune to random violent attacks in SA, so to those male passengers you are not doing yourselves/families any favours by not coming forward to report violent crime against a defenseless person, instead you are accomplice to the act of criminality.

@ sowetan, please show the correct picture of this kind of Taxi, it says is "Toyota Avanza" not E20, do we still have E20's anyway? Please stop trying to destroy E20 taxi drivers. to the transport department, how do you allow a Taxi to have deep tinted windows?

This taxi driver wasted more time getting out of his taxi to assault the woman. It is a sign of a potential criminal who is obsessed at having things his way. He was must duly be sought out by the public, made to pay his victim for the assault and sentenced for not less than 18 months for this bullying act and terrorism against those who board taxies.
I wish this victim a speedy recovery. It was better to have faced the driver's punches than be raped by all those men. Why did they not assist or support the woman if they were in the taxi and observing the act of violence? They should also be linked for assisting in the crime by not lending assistance or reporting the matter to the police.
With all the corruption in government, it is no wonder why there are no funds to have police on patrol.
Talk about creating employment... the government expects to private sector to do its share, while they cut down employment and line their own pockets!
To the very few good politicians, you are in my prayers.
