I'm still very much angry at the previous apartheid regime for denying the world the knowledge, wisdom and bravery of this true freedom fighter, Robert Sibukwe, by destroying archive footages of this giant that were captured. Many people only know his name as a result and have been robbed of the history of how he fought against apartheid. This man was so vibrant that some leaders then even thought he was more dangerous to them than the power Mandela had, and that's when they decided to isolate him even from meeting with the likes of Oliver Tambo,Madiba, etc.
Still feel sad to this day how we were robbed of the history and experience of this extraordinary late leader, and I'm glad the government is paying respect in his recognition!!! Report Abuse

RobertSobukwe was a selfless leader who wanted to make sure that the land and the mineral wealth beneath the soil, the Banks and monopoly industry shall be transferred to the ownership of the people as a whole. His ideals on Nationalisation and expropriation of land without compesation still relevant today as we have witnessed the ANC policy conference. You're such person who nbis afraid of the unknown and SA is the only country which does not have control over minerals because of S 25 of the constitution.
By now the great Sobukwe would have changed his opinion on the issues of a land handout and state control of the economy as have many other leaders who came to see the error in their thinking. Sadly he died before he could do so. Report Abuse

Whilst sharing your adulation of Sobukwe, i would advise you to brush up your history particularly with respect to events leading up to the adoption of the so-called freedom charter and the eventual split (formation of the PAC) in 1959. Sobukwe and other africanists, for example, vehemently opposed Lutuli's views he expressed during a treason trial testimony:
" The African National Congress was not working for the overthrow of the ruling classes. It was working for being given an opportunity to participate in the government of the country.”
Lutuli's naivete and political inexperience, caused him to mismanage a normal political contest between the reformists/moderates/charterists (mandela, sisulu & tambo, etc) and the revolutionaries/africanists (mda, sobukwe, leballo, etc) by taking sides with the former and tolerating their undemocratic, elitist tendencies leading to the ultimate rapture in 1959. You were made to believe that these giants were racists and wanted to take everything, even they did once you enter in a negotiation table that means you concur that you are equals. South Africa is f#@d up as we speak, the number of unemployed is raising and the service delivery chaos is getting to the level that one one will be able to control, the monopoly of the economy by the new black elite is raing and our education system is worse than apartheid times( except that segregation is now voluntary rather than through the legislature). This is not freedom for all of us becasue as long as the situation remains this way, those who pay the tax will feed the destitutes and the level of crime will raise, the level of illitarecy will raise and how then is a rich person free when he/she has to watch his or her back everyday( be it black or white). The Codessa system was not designed to reduce the gap between the rich and the poor and that my dear will haunt in a not too distant future and you will then know that we need a win/win situation= win/ win situation means all South Africans become victors Report Abuse
