A man arrested in connection with the theft of cash from a Sandton, Johannesburg, hotel guest was granted bail by the Alexandra Magistrate's Court.
Bail for Muzi Khumalo, 24, was set at R2000, police spokesman Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said.
He would be back in court on July 30. Khumalo was arrested in Sandton on Sunday, a day after the robbery in the Holiday Inn hotel.
Prominent Jordanian banker Farid Alshabbar claimed EU180,000 and R300,000 in cash were taken from a safe in his hotel room.
Maphakela said Khumalo was found in possession of some of the stolen money.
"He faces a charge of business burglary and theft."
The Holiday Inn said it was co-operating with the police's investigation.

Just overheard a conversation on Talk radio 702, it turns out there is no law against having that amount of money in your possession. A person found with large amounts of money should however be able to provide information why they have that sort of money.
Recently Christo Wiese won a case where he had R8.6million on him (675000 pound sterling) and was confiscated at Heathrow, now that has to be returned to him.
So it would seem if you have so much money, it may be confiscated but if you are able to show how you came by that money it can be returned to you. It is not illegal!
