SOUTH Africans need to work together to conserve water , Water Affairs Deputy Minister Rejoice Mabudafhasi said yesterday .
"Research says that by 2050 we won't have any water left, if we don't change our ways," she said.
"We have programmes in place for water conservation and water harvesting so we can avoid the catastrophe of not having water by 2050," she told the fourth Youth Water Summit in Boksburg.
"The little things we do as individuals in our homes count. We need to be innovative in order to conserve water."
She said the summit was about building cohesive and sustainable communities.
"The ultimate goals of these strategic imperatives are to speed up economic growth, to create decent work and sustainable livelihoods."
The summit ends on Friday when the winners in various categories of innovative youth water initiatives will be announced.

Mama, you politicians like to just talk and tell us what to do... . It is time you do something about the mines contaminating our precious water with poison. We have sufficient water if you look more closely and do your work properly.Offer a small reward to those who report leaky or broken pipes that are not tended to timeously by municipalities.
There is no need to tell us to save water. Do you really think we are so stupid to waste to water and make ourselves poorer?
