UNEMPLOYMENT among Africans was deepening so much that the poor will one day storm into the offices of politicians with their broken shoes and turned T-shirts to enquire about the future.
Is Cosatu is part of the problem? No acknowledgement of that. Unions have a vital role to plan in worker rights but when the labour laws favour labour at the expense of the employers they will take their investments elsewhere. Report Abuse

Now the Commander in Chief is coming back to his senses! When we advice these guys people it help! Make that noise please the more you make it, it makes sense! We had been appealing to the President to listen too much to the people on the ground and the peoples suggestions seems to be bearing the fruits! We will still politely ask the President to initiate the following
1. Open Political participation to academically and intellectually deserving civil servants to serve in our Government more often on merit but not on Political ground for the sake of quality production on service delivery issues, those individuals might be sourced from Universities, Civil Society, NGO's and Community Forums.
2. Promulgate a Legislation which must have a Constitutional basis and effects, that will enable the 59 million South African citizens to elect the President, Deputy President, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, Speaker of Parliament, Chiefwhip, Premiers, MEC's and Mayors, so that we can see if 59 million South Africans will make a mistake to elect leaders like Cele and Mahlangu Nkabinde and etc.
3. The ANC should let the 59 million South Africans to advance a reasonability test when electing leaders from Branch level to the top NEC hierarchy as the freedom charter said the people shall govern.
4. A radical change is needed were ANC must make sure that the General Public elect the leaders that they want to participate within the leadership ranks of the ANC so that leaders who are corrupt and have got a very bad track record cannot make it to the Political positions to do what they are proven to have done! as such we will see if leaders of ANC who are fond of buying delegates will be able to buy 59 million South Africans who will be in charge of electing leaders as they know them from their motherhood background.
5. ANC must make sure that Regional citizens contribute to election of Regional leaders and Provincial Conferences and National Conferences of leadership so that we can have members of Civil society deciding on who should lead us so that criminals and leaders with bad morals can be eliminated not to damage the image of the ANC as the Public is aware and knows those isolated individuals.
6. ANC must be seen to be allowing the Public to actively participate in its programmes so that a Liberation Movement can be turned in to a Social Democratic Movement which is accustom of the Present and the future, thereby creating a large pool of leadership capabilities and capacities with strong educational and moral human content.
With all this and other possible advices from other people, people will love and adore the ANC as the Party of the poor and marginalised! Report Abuse

But who can really trust our president? Take Sbu Ndebele case, the Sanral CEO is supposed to report to his office but because he is having direct access to Zuma, he undermined Ndebele by going straight to pres Zuma and pres Zuma is not pointing him back to Cronin and Ndebele, he replaced them, maybe by Guptas instructions. What happened to his leadership? Why is it that the case against the people of SA (e-tolling) by our monies is been run around by Gordhan and not Ndebele? Who is running president Zuma? Is the ANC really leading this country? If you want more deteriorations, re-elect him in Mangaung. You will be run by few people who do not even have your interests at heart. Report Abuse

It's as simple as ANC, Zuma is working towards populirising South Africa and has never focused on building the education and employment systems of this country. He's off the African Renaissance agenda but pledges monies for wrong reasons to foreign union (IMF) and country (Swaziland).
Some of the issues which contributed towards lack of education visionary was the introduction of children's grants which plated the element of sexual hyper activities among youth which forced them to regard as the breadwinner.

I somehow believe that the reason that he's vocal in public is because, since they are an alliance, issues are discussed in-house with possible solutions but what do you do if the main party doesn't listen to you?
Negativity towards a matter creates elemnts of concrete arriving at solutions with more carefulness. Something that ANC seems not to be good at, they are the main party and decisions should come from Luthuli House ONLY - which is wrong if you have alliances. Report Abuse

South Africa's unemployment problem will never be solved for as long as Cosatu doesn't want to tackle the thorny issue of illegal immigrants who are taking all the jobs that should be held by local people. I just can't understand why people shy away from this issue.
About 90% of people employed in restaurants in JHB and CT are Zimbabweans and nobody says anything about this. Are waiters jobs not regarded as jobs maybe ? In CT's Waterfront you will be lucky to find a waiter from Khayelitsha or Gugs. Why are we always bombarded with how small businesses are needed to create jobs ? Why is Cosatu so quite about this ? Are they afraid they will be accused of being xenophobic ?
In Limpopo the farmers there just no longer employ local people. Almost all the labourers are Zimbabweans.
South Africans must just accept that with our government's open border policy the future looks bleak for many of our people. As I finish writing this post another 100 Zimbos would have just walked into our country. Report Abuse

The ANC needs to understand that the role of the government is to create an enabling environment for job creation. If in all three spheres of the government in order for the normal man/ woman on the street to be employed, he/she needs to be politically connected, then that leave the private sector as the only way that we can reduce unemployment.
Brian Molefe said last week at the Port and Rail conference that Transnet will be looking at employing more than 500 000, in the next seven years. If done correctly, not with political influence or interference, then we can reduce unemployment.
It is a fact and we cannot run away from the truth, in some private sector companies, colour is used for remuneration purposes and they use the dummest excuse that we are not allowed to discuss salaries, irrespective of qualifications. Both private sector and the public sector needs to sort themselves out before it is too late. Report Abuse

Yes Vavi and why is education in such a mess? Because SADTU is the 2nd biggest Union in COSATU and has so much muscle that they can basically bring education to a standstill in this country. They are the ones who refuse Inspectors access to schools. It is virtually impossible to fire a government teacher due to labour laws and the muscle of COSATU - hence the poor results. It is also stupid to think that COSATU speaks for the unemployed because they only speak for the employed (you need a job to belong to a Union). That is where the ANCYL saw the gap and took it. I love it when a plan comes together. BEE and affirmative action is the time bomb. Did the ANC really think that by keeping the whites out of the job market it will give that jobs to the blacks? All that BEE did was to let the whites stop employing blacks because they are kept out of the market do do so. Blacks cant give blacks jobs, take for example Aurora. The blind cant lead the blind. Whites have vision, only they can help create jobs for black people. Let us face the true facts and dont tell me what im saying here is racist. if me being racist will put food on the table let it be so. Aurora wasn't BEE, it was ZEE. There are a huge number of successfully owned and/or run black businesses out there. One humongous foofup doesn't equate to all of them being failures. I can also name any number of white owned businesses that have flopped in spectacular form.

When the ANC came to power in 1994, they should have embarked on a massive skills training drive, and I'm not talking about the mickey-mouse 3 month training leading to no work or proper qualifications. There is a need for advanced skills (engineering, medicine, etc) among South Africans. The ANC made a mistake of prolonging the culture of Bass-skap, only changing the face of repression, thereby depriving South Africans a chance of standing on their own feet, decision making at the highest level and determining their industrial destiny. Now there is a generation gap of most 30 - 50 year olds who are not in employment, and too late for apprenticeship schemes with no future. This is also the generation that ended Oppression in SA. Its still not too late. Now the only problem is we have foreigners who have that self confidence and they feel the need to take SA to the next level, and that is met with resentment (and rightly so). South Africans need to run their own affairs and the State's duty is to help them in the right direction. Ask what your country can do for you as well as ask what you can do for your country, then the march forward can begin Report Abuse

Is Cosatu is part of the problem? No acknowledgement of that. Unions have a vital role to plan in worker rights but when the labour laws favour labour at the expense of the employers they will take their investments elsewhere.Report Abuse

Now the Commander in Chief is coming back to his senses! When we advice these guys people it help! Make that noise please the more you make it, it makes sense! We had been appealing to the President to listen too much to the people on the ground and the peoples suggestions seems to be bearing the fruits! We will still politely ask the President to initiate the following1.

You will be run by few people who do not even have your interests at heart.Report Abuse

Zuma is just clueless, period.

South Africa's unemployment problem will never be solved for as long as Cosatu doesn't want to tackle the thorny issue of illegal immigrants who are taking all the jobs that should be held by local people. I just can't understand why people shy away from this issue.About 90% of people employed in restaurants in JHB and CT are Zimbabweans and nobody says anything about this.

It's a fact that Cosatu should act. But in all these scenarios; who is in the helm, if not a wh1te man?
All these nationals you mentioned are not affected by a single act from the "Labour Relations Acts" since they are not South Africans. Whites business owners don't want to lose money to the state through UIF and PAYE. Those business practice's operations should be regulated.

Morning AllThe ANC needs to understand that the role of the government is to create an enabling environment for job creation.

That is where the ANCYL saw the gap and took it.Report Abuse

Take away BEE and affirmative action then look how the unemployment in SA will drop. Ignore it and see what happens.Report Abuse

frikkiebotesDo you really believe what you are saying?
Aurora wasn't BEE, it was ZEE. There are a huge number of successfully owned and/or run black businesses out there. One humongous foofup doesn't equate to all of them being failures. I can also name any number of white owned businesses that have flopped in spectacular form.
The concept of BEE and AA is fantastic and was desperately needed. The execution of it is terribly faulty but that is a completely separate issue. Is it still needed? Yes, but not in the political format it currently has

Ask what your country can do for you as well as ask what you can do for your country, then the march forward can beginReport Abuse
