Landlord attacks tenant

Family joined in on assault, using knives, bottles and an assegai

Four people have been arrested for allegedly assaulting a 25-year-old woman in Zola, Soweto, police said on Wednesday.

A fight broke out on Tuesday after the woman was accused of causing a power cut at the house where she was a tenant, Warrant Officer Kay Makhubele said.

The 45-year-old landlord and three members of her family aged 31, 35, and 37 attacked the woman.

“They used knives, bottles and an assegai.”

Neighbours called the police.

The woman is receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The four were expected to appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Thursday on charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
