The late Khomani San traditional leader Oom David Kruiper will have an official state funeral in the Kalahari this weekend, an official said.

An estimated 2000 mourners from South Africa and neighbouring Namibia were expected at the funeral

The Northern Cape premier's spokeswoman, Bronwyn Thomas-Abrahams, said Kruiper would be buried at Witdraai in the Kalahari.

Traditional Affairs Minister Richard Baloyi, acting Northern Cape premier Grizelda Cjiekella and several Northern Cape MECs were expected to attend.

Thomas-Abrahams said an estimated 2000 mourners from South Africa and neighbouring Namibia were expected at the funeral.

These included traditional leaders, and dignitaries from Assmang Mine, SANParks and the Northern Cape House of Traditional Leaders.

Kruiper, 71, died about two weeks ago after being admitted to hospital a week before.

Kruiper was known for his acting role as a tracker in the 1989 movie, The Gods Must Be Crazy II.

He addressed the United Nations in Geneva on the rights of indigenous people in 1994, and led the way for land claims in South Africa for the San people. Some 40,000 hectares of land were handed back to the San in March 1999.

Kruiper was also involved in the development and restoring of the San languages.

It's about time the Khoi people get recognition in this country, all along they were so ignored as if they don't form part of being S.Africans. Big ups to the NC province for that job. Our code of arms is written in Khoi language but you can ask yourself why were they side-lined but interested in using their language. I wish I could understand it- one guy was explaining the meaning nicely recently on one of the documentaries I was watching it it was so impressive.

May your soul rest in PEACE Oom Day especially now that your nation will be appreciated amongst the masses

What you have stated is the truth my sister but the sad part is that allot of people like "Nguni's" enjoy blaming other people for their problems. There are allot of Qhoi Qhoin decedents in this county and even the Nguni language show that. But how are we supposed to recognise the left over Qhoi if they don’t even want to be known as Qhoi????

To me allot is not told as we always say colourd people are Qhoi but the question is what about all the Malaysian /Saudi ships that brawt people in this country? What we must focus on now is the real problem and that problem is "Lack of African pride amongst us", we must educate and be proud to say I am Qhoi and then and only then will not only the Government but the rest of Africa see you as not just mixed but blood!

DINIZULU! YEBO BABA I 100% AGREE WITH YOU, THAT A LOTT OF SO COLOURED PEOPLE ARE BAKHOE. AS A MATTER OF FACT I KNOW IN FREE STATE THAT A LOT OF COLURED ARE BAKHOE. I SAY THAT BECAUSE MY GRANDFATHER AND HIS SIBLING WERE ASKED TO CHANGE THEIR STATUS TO COLOURED AND THEY REFUSED. CERTAIN RELATIVES DID SO AND CHANGED THE GIVEN NAMES BEC THEY THOUGHT THAT THEY WILL BE TREATED BETTER BY THE APARTHEID GORVENMENT. 2ND POINT LARGE NUMBER OF XHOSAS AND SOTHOS HAVE MORE KHOISAN DNA THAN BANTU DNA. ESPECIALY TSWANA KLANS(BAHURUTSHE, ROLONG,THLAPING) AND FREE STATE (BAKOENA BA MMUTLA,BOFOKENG).
IN SOTHO AND TSWANA, BAROA WERE A MIXTURE OF KHOE, SAN,SOTHO-TWANA. THEN IN LATTER YEARS TO BE CONSIDERED A MORWA BECAME A DERAGOTORY TERM USED BY US BANTU PEOPLE. I WOULD LIKE ALL SOUTH AFRICANS (BOERS,SOTHO,NGUNI,MALAYS).
TO RESEARCH SOUTH AFRICAN ARCHIVES BEFORE 1948 BEFORE APARTHEID BECAME LAW.YOU MIGHT FIND OUT WHO YOU REALLY ARE. ESPECIALLY COLOURED PEOPLE. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH OF MY FAMILY I FOUND OUT THAT MY FAMILY HAD LOT OF REALTIONS WITH BAKOE IN SOUTH WERSTEN BOTSWANA. AS A MATTER OF FACT WE GO VISIT ONCE IN A WHILE. I JUST REMEMBER WHEN I WAS YOUNGER ME AND MY COUSINS WE WOULD HEAR SOME OF OUR BLACK PEOPLE YELLING ACROSS THE STREER LEKHOWA. THAT WHEN I ASKED MY GRAND DAD, FARTHER AD MOM. THEY LAUGHED AND SAID DONT WORRY. IT IS THEN GRAND DAD EXP THAT THERE WAS A LOT OF INTERMIRRIAGES BETWEEN THE TSWANA-KHOE-SAN. I PROUDLY SAY KE MORWA.

3 generations in Africa authenticate you as a Product of Motherland. I live Europe but I WILL die and buried in Motherland. The Khoisan are Landlords of Mzansi, we (Ngunis) are custodians. But Motherland belongs to all of us, or rather we belong to Motherland (Africa)
