Malema allies 'to call YCL to order'
A POTENTIALLY ugly situation is brewing in Limpopo between the ANC Youth League and Young Communist League after a senior leader of the latter allegedly attacked Julius Malema's supporters.
The ANCYL said yesterday it would convene a meeting with YCL secretary Buti Manamela "to call him to order" for statements he allegedly made at the organisation's rally in Modimolle on Sunday.
Manamela told the YCL rally that Friends of the Youth League was just like COPE and the PAC.
This follows a meeting of the Friends of the Youth League in Thohoyandou on Friday where expelled ANCYL president Julius Malema and suspended secretary Sindiso Magaqa attacked the ANC leadership, particularly President Jacob Zuma.
The two, including ANCYL spokesman Floyd Shivambu, have been barred from addressing any gathering under the banner of the ANC or any of the party's other structures, including its alliance partners.
Malema and Magaqa are seen as acting in defiance of an ANC resolution while they in turn claim to have only addressed meetings called by Friends of the Youth League.
The youth league's Limpopo spokesman Klaas Mabunda said yesterday that they wanted to call Manamela to order for his attack on the organisation.
"We are tired of the YCL, particularly the secretary Buti Manamela, for continually insulting the ANCYL each time he is given a public platform," said Mabunda.
"We want to meet with the YCL to try and find out if we are to continue to attack each other in public. We have made many attempts to meet the YCL.
"If they are not available this time, we will still communicate with them through the media.."
Mangaliso Khonza, spokesman for the YCL in Limpopo, said the organisation was convinced that Friends of the Youth League would remain in opposition to the ANC.
"We view the behaviour of the Friends of the Youth League as the work of a political party opposed to the ANC," said Khonza.
"Why would a youth league of the ANC want to be in alliance with a member who has been expelled from the organisation?
"In fact, those who support an expelled member of the ANC cannot claim to support the ANC.
"We remain committed to our alliance with our sister organisation, the ANC Youth League."

Dangerous cocktail brewing - undereducated youth wings, self interested politicians like Zuma and Tokyo, corruption, no principled leadership, no vision for the future. The country is being pulled apart by personal struggles. Whatever happened to the unity that toppled apartheid. Where are we going.Report Abuse

We want freedom in our lifetime! Freedom from ANC tyranny; freedom form ANC corruption; freedom from ANC incompetence; freedom from ANC in-fighting; freedom from ANC lies; freedom from ANC ideology. With freedom secured we will, as a nation, be able to:
1) Build a freemarket economy that allows ALL to participate in it freely, not just a select few cadres in a nationalised, socialist economy that creates social and economic dependence and so breeds and perpetuates poverty.
2) Overcome poverty, not by wealth distribution and thus dilution, but by wealth creation and general prosperity.
3) Overcome racism - that racism that the ANC has entrenched so as to perpetuate its political dominance through social division rather than nation building.
4) Overcome the downward spiral caused by the ANC's policies in education, health, agriculture and just about every other facet of government.
5) Overcome the stranglehold that the ANC leadership has on moving forward instead of building power cliques, secretive alliances and counterproductive plots to win and hold onto power.
In short, with freedom we will be able to do what the ANC set out to do, build a better future for all, but which they have failed miserably to do.

I truelly agree with Buti & YCL if u are expelled and you don`t repent or accept it then you become an opposition , hence we say the expelled ANCYL if they are opposing leadership of ANC , then they should join COPE once & for all , to me those expelled are now an oppostion to democratic principles of ANC , so the YCL are correct and they is no need to meet and opppositionReport Abuse
