Pay up, Zizi told - Hotel owed thousands

FORMER presidential spokesman and now marketing manager for the Film Commission, Zizi Kodwa, is in hot water.

This is after he failed to pay his bill at the luxurious Syrene Boutique Hotel in Rivonia after throwing an exclusive birthday party for his wife Zama Ngubane.

The party was attended by their close friends.

Asked about the incident Syrene manager Daniella Finney said they were "talking to Kodwa".

"He promised to pay. Call me in another month. I do not want to comment further," she said.

It is understood Kodwa believes the allegations are a dirty campaign aimed at rubbishing his name.

It is not clear who is behind this as he failed to answer our questions before our deadline.

Kodwa, who reportedly budgeted only for R8,000 for the event, was allegedly surprised to learn that he and his friends had indulged to the tune of about R35,000.

A source, who was a guest at the private party and wished to remain anonymous, said when Kodwa was presented with the bill he told the waiter he only had R8,000 and would fetch the rest from his car. But he never came back.

"After looking for him the hotel management finally found him and he promised to settle the account at the end of the month," the source said.

Kodwa - who gave Sowetan the run-around when asked for comment - said the story was "unfounded and sensational.

"There is no story here. I am a regular there. I have an understanding with them," he said.

Did they deliberately choose the photo with Zuma in the background. Anyway, It will be nice if he gave his side of the story so people can stop speculating. Right now he is looking like a delinquent.
