Protesters continue to burn tyres, resulting in Beyers Naude Drive being partially closed
Police were monitoring the situation in Zandspruit where Beyers Naude Drive was partially closed on Thursday morning, Johannesburg metro police said.
“Protesters continue to burn tyres resulting in Beyers Naude Drive being partially closed between Juice and Peter roads,” spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said.
“There is a heavy police presence and motorists are advised to avoid the area and use Malibongwe Drive and Hendrik Potgieter road as alternatives.”
On Wednesday protesters blocked Beyers Naude Drive with stones and rocks and threw stones at cars.

People were promised all the good human basic things but delivery is not there and the very same people have been .complaining to the people who were nominated to monitor this delivery but unfortunately it fell on deaf ears, so what do we expect people to do? look at this it is drawing everybody's attention. Councillors are accountable for omissionReport Abuse

Its about time Zandspruits demands got attended to(the ppl are only asking for BASIC RIGHTS) They just want to live in proper houses like human beings, have access to water nearby and electricity. How many informal settlements came after Zandspruit and RDP houses have been built for them?Report Abuse

Why always burning tyres. Must get fire brigade in and put out tyres and water canon these fukkers. Then ANC must deliver to avoid it happening again. Waiting, waiting, waiting....Report Abuse
