IN AN article published on Monday (June 11), headlined "ANC chairman behind plot to oust premier", North West ANC deputy chairman China Dodovu was erroneously quoted as having accused provincial ANC chairman Supra Mahumapelo of being behind the service delivery protests in the province, aimed at tarnishing premier Thandi Modise's image.
Dodovu - who spoke in his other capacity as local government and traditional affairs MEC - had said that a task team would probe whether the protests were politically motivated and warned the protesters to guard against being used by those who had an "agenda".
He did not mention anyone, as the article suggests.
Sowetan apologises unreservedly to the two ANC leaders for the inconvenience that might have been caused.
