North West suspensions unconstitutional: ANC
SUSPENDING the ANC North West chairman Supra Mahumapelo is unconstitutional, the party said
Spokesman Keith Khoza said a meeting in which regions in the province had called for the suspension of Mahumapelo and four other members of the provincial executive committee (PEC) was unconstitutional.
The ANC regions have called for the suspension of the five members of the provincial leadership.
The regions said yesterday that branches held a special provincial general council on Sunday.
"The meeting resolved to call for the immediate removal of the provincial chairman, deputy secretary, provincial treasurer, Kenny Morolong and Matthew Wolmarans," the statement read.
The deputy provincial secretary is former local government MEC Gordon Kegakilwe, the treasurer is former Madibeng municipal manager Philemon Mapulane.
Morolong is the provincial spokesman and Wolmarans is the former mayor of Rustenburg.
The regions also requested an urgent provincial general council to elect people to the vacant positions in the provincial executive committee.
The regions said factionalism and disunity in the PEC and its inability to provide leadership continued to derail the national executive committee's efforts to stabilise the province.
