A soccer coach was arrested for allegedly raping two girls in his team in Wolmaransstad, North West police said on Wednesday.

Sergeant Philani Nkwalase said the 43-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping two 12-year-old girls.

He said the coach had taken the girls to his house where he gave them money and sweets and raped them.

One of the girls apparently told her aunt about the rape.   She reported the matter to the police and the girl told officers another girl had also been abused.

The man is expected to appear at the Wolmaransstad Magistrate’s Court on June 6.
