This is the sad tale of Katlego Basetsana Sello, who was laid to rest at the Kagiso Cemetery in Mogale City yesterday. Katlego's mother, Lesego, is in prison for the alleged murder.

Katlego's body was found with several stab wounds at her home in Kagiso on Saturday night.

Police spokesman Solomon Sibiya said the tiny lifeless body was found after Lesego allegedly called her mother telling her that she had killed the baby.

"After telling her that the baby was dead she hung up. The mother then allegedly called Lesego's aunt, who lives with them, to check on them. That was when she made the gruesome discovery.

The child had about eight stab wounds to the upper body and a knife was also found not far away from the child.

During the funeral service family members told Sowetan not to write the story, accusing the newspaper of reporting "lies" about the tragedy.

But when it was put to them that Sowetan never wrote the story a woman who didn't identify herself said they were hurt by what had been reported in the media and even told our photographer not to take any pictures.
