Management at the Coastal As-Salaam campus
********************************************************************************************
It is a Muslim facility.
When you enrolled you were obviously told about the rules and regualtions of the school

Example: If a parent sends their kids to a Catholic school, she/he cannot expect them to be taught Judaism......

If I were these students I wld embrace this Islam thingy cause its the ONLY thing which seems to help many of its followers from being alcoholics, drug addicts, sex addcits/slaves etc even Malcolm X wrote abt how he was saved by Muslim faith from the life of drugs and crime, he turned out to be a super husband dad and leader.

@Abdulla-Saleeh was Malcolm gay? that is part aspect of his life I have not read about, its the first, not that there is anything wrong with being gay.

the point I was making was that, a vulnerable person as he was due to social pressures at the time, was saved by faith to become a productive citizen and an inspiration to many wrt his fights for social justice, also I read that Mohamed Ali was sustained by his faith (Islam) through issues faced by black Americans at the time in the USA, so if this Islam can produce such ppl, then I wld recommend it.

Also when living in the UK I shared a flat with 2 Muslim ppl, I was awed by their healthy lifestyle and being informed on many different topics, that experience has made me to be more open minded by the Allah guys,

Islam also produced "Bin Laden".

As Bumbo puts it, it is a persons state of mind that matters.

All religions have good and a lot of bad. So let's just sharve them aside (prefarably in a dark corner0 and live by the following simple words, respect for self and respect for others.

Fact of the matter Bumboklaat we all need to believe in something, in the religious ppl's case is their faith, in the superstitious ppl's case is izinyanya or amadlozi, others believe in the sun, I believe in the higher power, I can't explain that in words, but ppl need to believe in something what is wrong with thsi belief is when its imposed, or made out as superior to others beliefs as was case when colonisers and missionaries came here with bibles came to Africa to erode our way of life in their attempts at breaking our beliefs/faith/spirits to a certain degree they succeeded.

@All
This is a simple matter, it's such that people like to complicate issues. In RSA we have a constitution which is the supreme law that informs any other legislations that may be enacted to the extent of their legitimacy. The question here is simple, who's property is this? The answer is: Muslim property; then Muslims get to set the rules of what happen in their property; the same way we Christians do in our own properties (this you do not need a single degree to figure out). We have a lot of public schools and Christians schools in this country, and if you want to a bible like me, then make the correct choice within the laws that governs our country. Why go terorise people in their property and want to dictate the rules there, that to me sounds very unChristian like in any case. This to me is not about religion; but failure of citisens (parents in this case and their children) to understand property rights as guided by relevant legislation and our constitution to understand what is a difference between fair and unfair discrimination.
I am a Christian a very proud one, but as the Lord Jesus said in the bible, give to ceaser that which is due to ceaser; it is their property, deceast from these tendencies please!!!

in that context I agree then Abdulla, but my point that I was making was that I was inspired that Muslim faith was able to save Malcolm X who who was (at the time) a child from the other side of town to become world renowned leader and a formidable social justice activist, left me awed, and given our situation (in SA) where we are going through a moral hemorrhage stage esp for our youth, I'd say those kids in this Muslim school shld perhaps give this faith a chance they just might learn something which might help them in the process of their development, they don't have to be Muslim but they shld respect values of the institutions they enrolled themselves in.

If it's a private school, they're well within their rights. If it's a government school, they're way outside their rights because no government school is allowed to advocate any kind of religion whatsoever anymore.

Good point MsKink on Mike Tyson, but what I was saying was that its not all bad to not be allowed to read a bible its not the end of the world, these kids must get with it, they enrolled in the Muslim school, did they expect to be fed pork? I was also highlighting some positives of the faith in question seemingly that it gets most times worse publicity and I accounted examples known to me.

------------------------------------
Some ppl are not strong or grounded hence they need a form of belief to work towards or measure (good/bad) values against, the weakness that I talk about come from unstable family/community lives, hence some become gang members, some become religious, generally ppl need to associate with something, this association becomes problematic when it starts to override reason and common sense, I say.

In an ideal world they should be laws that remove religion from Educational institude to avoid cult-nuts and religious-nuts, religion should be a personal practice done in your private time, Educational institude should accomodate people from all walks of life and religions regregates on all cultures and practices.

imagine how boring life would be if we abided by uniformity____ doing the same thing, talking the same language, that's why we talk about diversity....properly these kids knew the school was "Halaal" , therefore abide by the rules or go somewhere...same with Catholic schools...i still say uniformity is a bore....I don't know why non-religious people are so nosy in religious issues, preference and choice is in every individual..u have a choice to be religious or non-religious simple

As i have said before and i say it again, this has nothing to do with religion but rights as enshrined in our laws, however you are more than welcome to butcher one another we will be reading. A point worthy of correction though abdulla, Santa clause(or satan clause as some of us call it) has nothing to do with Christianity at all. But I guess you probably know that but just happy to spread the propaganda that has been so commecialised in the name of Christianity isn't it? There is no point in blaming one another here, that does not solve or build anything. we live with all manner of people around us and yes we have to get along on our commonalities, amplifying our differences, can only diminish us as a nation!!!

I am an open gay person in South Africa and above all things i have no reason to defend muslims because of their ignorant attitude towards gay people.........but i respect their beliefs and will play by their rules just as long as they stay out of what happens in my bedroom!
