'Zuma nephew owes thousands in traffic fines'

May 21, 2012 | Sapa, The Mercury | 23 comments

Businessman Khulubuse Zuma owes the eThekwini metro police R28,950 in outstanding traffic fines, the Mercury reports

Khulubuse Zuma

Zuma is President Jacob Zuma’s nephew and one of the directors of Aurora Empowerment Systems, the company which was removed as the preferred bidder to buy the insolvent Pamodzi gold mines.

The traffic fines date back to January 2010 and are for alleged offences which include the absence of taxi rank permits, speeding, washing vehicles in the street, parking facing oncoming traffic, not having an operator card, disregarding traffic lights, and not having licence plates.

Three luxury cars and household goods belonging to Zuma were auctioned off last month to pay R10 million owed to Protea Coin Security.

The security company was trying to recover the R10 million owed by Aurora for services it provided at Pamodzi’s Grootvlei mine in Springs, east of Johannesburg.

Aurora has been accused of destroying infrastructure at the mines and causing the loss of more than 5,300 jobs.

Former president Nelson Mandela’s grandson, Zondwa, is another Aurora director.

Trade union Solidarity brought an application to have Aurora liquidated as part of its claim for R3.1 million in unpaid wages to workers at the two mines.

  • Khulubuse Zuma's business interests include a fleet of minibus taxis, as well as a guest house in Ballito, KZN.

I find it funny that out of the very long article, this is the only piece relating to the headline en we all know that infringements were not even caused by him but his taxi drivers.

Jaaa -nhee news paper reporting in this country sumtyms leave U puzzled coz 80% of this story is about AURORA.
