Numsa calls for action

May 18, 2012 | Moipone Malefane Political Editor | 18 comments

THE National Union of Metalworkers of SA (Numsa) says the ANC leadership that will be elected in Mangaung in December should be "equal to the task" of implementing the Freedom Charter.

Irvin Jim and his Numsa must just sh'ut up. If they are unhappy about SACP leaders serving in government, then they must push forward their preferred candidates to contest the next SACP elections and replace Nzimande, Cronin, et.al.

Indeed those calling them "new tendency" are correct. It is an open secret that Mr Jim and his Numsa comrades have copied ANCYL's posture in many aspects, the only difference is that they have not used ins'ults like Malema and his henchmen.

it is encouraging to see deep fissures now showing up in this unholy tri-partite alliance.
its time that we put a break on corruption, decadence, greed, incompetence, arrogance and
impunity of the ruling capitalist elite. its time workers and peasants formed a trully revolutionary
african nationalist party. to rid the land fully and finally of all evils of oppression and foreign
domination by pioneering together with nigeria, ethiopia and later the dr congo, the bringing
about of a unified african nation from cape to cairo. it's our only hope of maintaining our
self-determination as a people. most african countries are simply not viable, look at swaziland
and lesotho, south africa's viability is itself in question in the long run. for how can we survive
as a state where more than half of our youth have no realistic chance of finding a job, and
realise their full human potential? after all mineral resources have been depleted here, we
are likely to revert to the stone age economy, since we've so far failed to create a critical mass
of black africans with enough skills to pass over to the next generation for civilisation to survive.

When is the SOWETAN going to stop saying that the "Freedom Charter" is an anc document. In fact it was written by a bunch of White Communists and it took the anc a year to sign up to it, causing a split creating the party known as the PAC. The fact is also that Trade Unions are all communist organisations that do not believe in Democracy, that is why they never stand in elections, rather riding on the back of the anc and then doing everything in their power to stop anc policy. For example the Youth Subsidy.

the problem is once elected, the rhetoric goes out of the window. Yes Numsa is right, 18 years and no change, but the sound of this drum need to change. If (and when) Numsa's reps get elected, then they should be elected with right to recall, in case they taste the honey and get stuck in the syrup. Otherwise we heading for arnachy. We need a different beat to the Drum

The problem of our country is that we were so quick to embrace certain parts of Freedom Charter which favoured the minority, those who are the champions thereof. When others reflect on other parts of the charter, they must shut or stopped. This is our country, we cant pretend anymore we need what belong to us and people must stop this rhetoric of saying this country will go to the drains. We are not all stupid atleast there are brains out here in this country black or white who are serious about issues . When our elders negotiated our so called freedom they sold out. We went on Parole as blacks calling it freedom, land issue n nationalization of strategic sectors is violating these set of rules of parole. The guardians thereof like Ramaphosa will do well to honor their promise to our taskmasters. Is either we embrace the whole charter or dump it.

This moron does not get it - it is not the kind of economy that needs to be changed. We need the corrupt and incompetent government the alliance has installed to be changed. Implement the freedon charter - appropriately amended of course for the leadership - Jim inclulded - to enjoy capitalist luxuries like mercedes benz and BMW.

Is dim Jim speaking from a majority mandate or is he doing his usual spouting off with no clue?

The State already owns all mineral rights and the Reserve Bank owns all Rands. Mines are not where the money is, the minerals are where the money is. Stop selling our minerals to China and India at lower prices than we can purchase them here.
