Cosatu says DA had bricks

“Cosatu was portrayed as beating the DA, which was not the case.”

Cosatu’s actions outside its headquarters during a DA march in Johannesburg were inaccurately portrayed by the media, the trade union federation’s president said on Wednesday.

“Cosatu was portrayed as beating the DA, which was not the case. Bricks were loaded into a truck and used against our members,” Sidumo Dlamini claimed at Cosatu’s International Policy Conference in Kempton Park.

Democratic Alliance and Congress of SA Trade Unions members clashed in Braamfontein on Tuesday, during the opposition party’s march in support of a youth wage subsidy.

The DA had a right to air its views, but Cosatu had the right to defend its own views, he said.
