Another model pushed into apology for racist rant

International relations and co-operation department spokesman Clayson Monyela tweeted to her that her words amounted to hate speech

Another model had to apologise after she tweeted, in response to Jessica Leandra dos Santos’ racist online rant, that she wished all white people were dead, the Witness reported on Monday.

Tshidi Thamana’s tweet [we can't publish the exact words due to legal concerns] drew widespread condemnation. It was later removed from the social networking site, although she initially defended herself: “Dear all … Why do people think I am a racist when I said it was wrong to be racist SMH [shaking my head] … Really!”

International relations and co-operation department spokesman Clayson Monyela tweeted to her that her words amounted to hate speech.

“We have to value each other and not condemn each other,” she responded.

Although she initially declined to apologise, she crumbled on Sunday and tweeted: “Yes, racism is wrong and I apologise for the ‘kill all whites’ tweet … It was tweeted in anger”.

Later she added: “Dear SA, sincere apologies for the death wish for white people, it was tweeted in anger and yes, condemnation of each other is wrong”.

Tshidi Thamana says this about herself on her Twitter page: "I'm Me... Your Opinion/s Don't Matter".

On her Facebook page, Tshidi says she's studied at Unisa (2011), Rosebank College (2008) and Tholulwazi Secondary School (Class of 2007).

Although she is described as a model, there is no information available on a web search of any assignments she may have fulfilled.
