Cornelius. Don't stir, please. Even oblique racism stinks, Sir.
It is indeed shocking to find that this reprehensible practice still continues on a continent which has arguably suffered from slavery more than any other. To me a slaver is worse than a murderer, as a life in captive labour is a life not worth living. Prosecute these guys to the max, please NPA. Report Abuse

They are so greedy thatthey fight and expose each other......
Limpopo police started some kind of stink operations 4-6 weeks back and its paying off. Well done to SAPS Limpopo and other crime fighting bodies. This is just a tip of the iceberg. These syndicates have trafficked many people before.Police must squeeze them to reveal it all. Who b.u.y.s these ''slaves'' and where.

This is disturbing Black on Black, why does this happen in South Africa? Am I missing a point did we vote for this? Limpopo seems to be a busy corner, we suffered from when Jan Smuts was here we are still suffering when Zuma is here, what should we do? why people from other African states come and EXPLOIT and ABUSE South Africans? Dear South Africans do we really have to tolerate this? If other nations other than black Africans do not want to be in South Africa they can go to their countries I am talking about that Indian man caught in human trafficking. Report Abuse

I think to say the 47 were held for slavery is a bit far fetched...the reporter should re-do his investigations.
Most will agree that the story of what happens in Musina, Beit Bridge vis-a-vis border jumping is well known from 3rd Degree etc....these Ethiopina guys travle all the way from Ethiopia upto Zim. In Zim, they travel to Beit Bridge and enter into agreements with smugglers (huma traffickers if you want) or the famous Gumagumas who help smuggle them across the border on the promise that their relative across the border will pay the smugglers' fee (pay forward). Seems to me like the reltive must have failed to pay or didn't know his brother was coming and after failing to raise the fee, decided to call the police. From the stories, these human traffickers wont release you until your relative pays up their fees. Report Abuse

I think you are spot on. To take your view further, I think that this Ethiopian is using the system against itself, because those very familiy members will then be able to claim political asylum, and skip the que by virtue of being in custody of the South African authorities. It's very clever if you think about it, because it achieves two aims with one shot. Your relatives arrive in this country as goods, they get freed by the system, and the state is then forced to give them leniency when it comes to their status, by abusing some or other UN declaration on trafficed people.
