A Limpopo woman accused of strangling her four-year-old son appeared in the Bolobedu Magistrate's Court, police said.
The case was postponed until May 7. Josephina Selowa, 25, remained in custody, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.
Selowa was arrested on Thursday when a post mortem revealed the boy had been strangled. She initially told the police she was baby-sitting the child when he died on April 19.
However, she later allegedly told them her ex-boyfriend had forced her at gunpoint to kill the child because he reminded him of one of her ex-boyfriends, who he had killed.
The man, who is on the run, is wanted by police for a murder committed in December.
