A POLICEMAN and a game ranger have been shot and killed in the Kruger National Park, police said yesterday.
The policeman, accompanied by a soldier, was searching for rhino poachers in the park's southern Tshokwane section park at 9am on Saturday morning when they came under fire, police spokesman Colonel Vishnu Naidoo said.
"The shooting resulted in the SAPS member being shot and killed. In return, the defence force member fatally wounded the shooter," said Naidoo.
"It emerged later that the shooter was in fact an on-duty SANParks game ranger."
An inquest docket has been opened.

I doubt it Mbeva, there's been game rangers implicated in the poaching of rhinos in the Kruger - I am sure a thorough investigation will show what happened - stop killing our rhinos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Report Abuse

Well communication or lack of it might be the cause of the shootings but most of the rhino poachers are the same rangers...I agree with Bolander.Report Abuse

Police only knows how to arrest drunk drivers and assault people on the street n clubs, wen it comes to real life shooting with real criminals/poachers they are useless.Report Abuse
