"Apartheid will never come back again under the same name, but of course it will come back under a different name," he said at a public lecture at the University of Witwatersrand in Johannesburg.

"It will be an acronym and we won't know what it stands for, but we will continue to vote for it."

Uys said apartheid was a "stupid" system.

He recalled how he explained to a 12-year-old that, during apartheid, black people were not allowed to sit on certain benches, and the boy thought it was stupid because who could stop him from sitting on a bench.

"Stupidity kills ... It's so inventive; never underestimate stupidity ... Don't underestimate the ANC Youth League," Uys said.

He said South Africans should not ignore what suspended ANCYL president Julius Malema said. "We ignore (Malema) at our peril."

The ANCYL was the future of this country, said Uys.

He urged the youth of South Africa to get involved in youth structures.

Maybe I missed something here, is apartheid gone Mr Uys? I only recall us, who were brutalised and dehumanised by the system, in the guise of political correctness, sweeping everything under the carpet, and bought in a fallacy known as reconciliation.

The legacies and tentacles of apartheid are alive and well, unless or until, we decide to be honest we ourselves and take out all the musks that we are wearing, so that we may look liberal and be called a rainbow nation, that is at war with itself, but play nicely or tolerate each other, just to get accolates from the world as a shining example.

Why is the term "stupidy kills" and the ANCYL used in the same paragraph?

Sadly you never came out and said what you are saying now even though the system was stupid. ANC campaigned tirelessly for you support but you never came to the party and now you want us to believe that ANC will bring back apartheid. Mr Uys the days of you fooling our people, taking their catles and give them mirrors are long gone. We will never be fooled by fools like you

Mr Uys you just like the D(double A(apatheid) which like to abuse the democratic platform that they never fought for, did u comdemn your fathers during your evil regime as you do with our govt, now that you have benefited enough to keep you going for life time you come and patronize us with populist statements, we heard you during your regime calling our leaders terrorists try to brainwash us no to side with our leaders, news flash we stand by our leaders will continue to vote for the ANC until we get economical freedom in our life time , yes we must not ignore the ANCYL cause there are the only structure that in touch with reality...

In ways I can agree, really I can and in ways I can not. We still live in a society where segregation is big. Look at Durban, there are places white people don't go to and places where black people don't go to. It isn't stipulated, but it just happens that way. It isn't spelled out, but you can say it is still there. ECONOMIC FRE_EDOM? God we still on that? Get a job, get an income and purchase shares etc. I think some people use the term loosely, but do not understand what it means in its entirety.
