Maarohanye, who faces charges for the incident, made the apology on Soweto TV at the weekend.

He conveyed his condolences and offered to erect tombstones for the four.

Families of the victims were angered and did not want to accept the apology.

“I will never accept his apology. I don’t want anything from him,” said one of the affected mothers.

Maarohanye and his co-accused Themba Tshabalala are on trial for murder, attempted murder and driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

They were allegedly drag-racing their Mini Coopers along Mdlalose Drive in Protea North in March 2010, when one of their cars ploughed into a group of school pupils.

Four boys died and two others were severely injured.

Tshabalala showed remorse for the incident during the first few court appearances and apologised to the families.

Hau Mr Jub Jub are trying to confess to something here? I thought you were not guilty of anything and now your are guilty of something hence you are apologizing. Do you know how expensive it is to run a trial?
