Speeding teacher accused of killing two pupils
A LIMPOPO teacher has been arrested after two 7-year-old primary school pupils were allegedly knocked down and killed by a car PLUS Man nabbed for affair with teenager (17)
The teacher, who is in custody, is expected to appear in the Mankweng Magistrate's Court today on two counts of culpable homicide.
The incident allegedly happened on the road between Sebayeng and Solomondale at 3.30pm.
Mankweng police spokesman Constable Moses Molepo said the Sebayeng Primary pupils were knocked down outside their school.
"The teacher knocked dead the two pupils in an area where he was supposed to drive slowly," said Molepo. Molepo identified the victims as Maite Matlala and Karabo Tauyatswala.
- In another crime-related incident, a 34-year-old man appeared in the Nebo Magistrate's Court on a statutory rape charge.
It is alleged the man was having a love affair with a 17-year-old girl from Mokwete village near Jane Furse.
Constable Thapelo Lesufi of the Jane Furse police said the parents of the girl had opened a case against the man. He said the girl had used her mother's cellphone to send SMSes to the "boyfriend".
One a particular night the mother searched for her daughter in her room and found she was not there. She informed local police who found the man and girl at an RDP house in the village. The man was arrested.
"We then arrested the man for having an affair with a minor," said Molepo.
The case was postponed to April 23 for a bail application.
