Girl (12) was killed when rival gangs opened fire. Two others were wounded

A man was set to appear in Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court for allegedly killing a 12-year-old girl and injuring two others, Western Cape police said.

Warrant Officer November Filander said two rival gangs shot at each other on the corner of Vlamboom and Vaalbos streets in Bonteheuwel on Saturday night.

A boy and girl, both aged 12 years, and a 17-year-old girl, were caught in the crossfire.

The young girl died on the scene.

The boy was shot in his left cheek and the teenager in her right foot.

Another shoot-out followed when the police arrived.

They arrested a man, 21, with a 9mm pistol and ammunition in his possession.
