Renovations delayed class

NTUTHUKO Primary School was supposed to have been a full-service institution by 2011.

Though occupational therapists and social workers have been hired there are no children with disabilities because of a renovation blunder.

Deputy principal Mzwakhe Sithole said: "Our school was identified to be turned into a full service school. Our resource centre was supposed to be Izimelene centre."

For the school to be able to accommodate disabled children they have to build ramps and specialised toilets. None of this has been completed by construction companies Makhamabavele and DSST.

Gauteng education spokesman Charles Phahlane said: "There have been plans to convert the school into a full service school and the plans are still under way."

Phahlane could not say when the children would be accommodated.
