A woman has been jailed for an effective 15 years by the Western Cape High Court for beating her seven-year-old nephew to death with a knobkerrie
Nonkholiso Skotha, 51, entered into a plea bargain with the court.
She was found guilty of killing Ntumeko Mboxi - and assaulting his 11-year-old brother Zama.
Acting Judge Nalini Gangen sentenced her to 18 years, three of which were suspended for five years.
The boys were playing outside her home in Worcester, in the Western Cape, on June 29, 2010, when she ordered them to do household chores.
When she returned from visiting neighbours only their older brother Mvuzo could be found.
She sent him to fetch his younger brothers.
When Zama got home, she beat him with a stick for failing to listen to her.
"I assaulted Ntumeko by hitting him with a knobkerrie.
"After I assaulted him, he never left my bedroom alive again," Skotha admitted to the court.
