Shining example of a hospital

Apr 12, 2012 | Katharine Child | 14 comments

ALL it takes to turn a hospital around and get it ready for the expected National Health Insurance scheme is a bit of "common sense". This is according to Dr Naing Soe, acting CEO of the Tshwane District Hospital since March 2010, who has been lauded as the person who has turned an ailing hospital into a "human place".

What a great story.

Just goes to show what can be done when the right person (as opposed to the politically connected) gets the job. I hope Dr Soe gets permanent placement even if creating too few tenderpreneurial opportunities will probably count against him

Good one Dr Soe.
It should not come out later that all that is good now actually is fraudulent
Your brothers and cousins were given R8mil to do all that.

Good indeed...now you must also tell your admission staff not to talk on their cellphones for minutes while they are busy with the admission of patients cause they end up making the que longer and making spelling errors

I write to thank Dr Soe’s hard work, dedication and humanity. I spent the whole Monday night of the 2nd of June 2012 with my father in law who was very sick together with many patients at Tshwane District Hospital. We actually spent more than 12 hours at the hospital. The reception at this hospital is really bad, very poor and a hell just like Steve Biko hospital’s. There were many instances where I also overheard that there were no Doctors to attend to the patients. I decided to see what I can do with understanding that the hospital might surely be understaffed. On Wednesday, I phoned Dr Soe who was shocked by my story. He guaranteed that there was no shortage of Doctors to that extent and that patients do not have to spend more than four hours at the hospital. He also promised to attend to the matter. To my surprise, it took my father in law and many, if not all the patients only three hours today (Friday) to finish. Where do we find human beings like Dr Soe?
